R&D at BECPL is an area of prime importance. We carry out research in following areas; mainly related with wastewater treatment.

Electrochemical Treatment :

Electro-oxidation is an advanced treatment technology for destruction of recalcitrant and toxic compounds in wastewater. We at BECPL have developed electro-oxidation unit which is successfully applied for treatment of wastewaters from dye-intermediate and pharmaceutical-intermediate industries. COD removal up to 85-90% and current efficiency as high as 95% have been achieved which ensures economy of the operation.

Anaerobic biological Treatment :

We have successfully accomplished treatment of high COD industrial wastes and textile waste by lab-scale Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) units. The results of lab studies are used to design the actual field scale treatment plants.
